IDS's Succession Plan


I have served as president of IDS Publishing Corporation since the company was founded by Professor Steven Reiss in 1988.  During these 30 years, IDS has grown from a small publisher of tests focused mainly on developmental disabilities to a global publisher of the Reiss Motivation Profile® (RMP), an assessment that represents the “gold standard” in its field. 
 
Although I expect to continue in my present role for a number of years, I realize it is important to have a succession plan in place.  Happily, my son Michael and his wife Kristen have decided to join me in the business with the idea of assuming control of operations when I step down as president.  Both have been working closely with me for the past 18 months, gradually undertaking greater responsibilities as they become more familiar with IDS’s partners and customers as well as its policies and procedures.  We are confident the eventual transition will be a seamless one.
 
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to the global RMP network the “future” of IDS:
 
Michael Reiss has been involved with IDS since 2000, was trained and certified as a Reiss Profile® Master four years ago, and has worked for the company on a full-time basis since 2016.  He presently serves as Vice President, collaborating with me on all major business issues and decisions.  He led the recent re-norming initiative, consults regularly with IDS’s global partners, and is directing the current effort to develop a new web-based test platform.  Michael has extensive knowledge of statistical analysis techniques as well as considerable experience in leadership and management.  He earned a Bachelor's degree in political science from Indiana University and a Master's degree in quantitative analysis and program evaluation from The Ohio State University.  Before joining IDS, Michael worked as a statistical analyst for a non-profit organization where he managed a staff of 50. 
 
Kristen Reiss was trained and certified as a Reiss Profile® Master in 2014 and has served as an Associate with IDS on a part-time basis since 2016.  After earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree cum laude from Syracuse University in 2006, she began work as an architect and became licensed in 2010.  With her background in design, Kristen led IDS’s recent rebranding initiative and will assist with future website development.  Her experience in project management and team leadership has been instrumental in helping IDS to realize its goals. 
 
I believe IDS Publishing Corporation will continue to thrive under Michael and Kristen’s leadership, and I am confident the Reiss Motivation Profile® will remain a global force in the assessment of motivation.
